In 2022 having an online presence is so important to kickstart your career. With the pandemic most of our work has been shifted to the online space hence this is where it will help you connect with people and allow you to be found. During this research period, I explored ways to help me create my professional online presence as a designer and the benefits of having the online presence.

 

Having a digital presence helps you set you set your voice as a designer to be found. Either by a potential employer or customer. It helps you show your creative strategies and display your abilities of what you’re capable of (AIT Admissions, 2017). It is what you will use to get a job or the internship. 

 

Furthermore, with the convenience of digital spaces for job hunting it is much easier and faster to find jobs that you like and want to be part of. During these times we don’t have to be physically present to find jobs but rather the digital presence on platforms allows you to easily hunt for your dream jobs.

 

There are many different platforms that provide the service of connecting businesses and the people. Having an online presence allows other people to see you as a professional in the business. During my research there were a few sights that are number one in Malaysia. So for my online presence I selected one of the 2 main platforms. That is LinkedIn and Jobstreet. These platforms have been connecting job hunters and businesses effectively in Malaysia (FoundingBird, 2022). It is also the most used job-hunting applications where many businesses are present that are looking for employees.

 

LinkedIn allows you to set job alerts based on your career interests and send you regular email updated to help you be fully informed to expand your network at the convenience. Moreover, if you apply for a job and the employer searched your name, it is likely your LinkedIn will be ranked as the google top search. Which brings me back to the point. It is easier for you to be discovered and expand your network. Moreover, it is easier to get your LinkedIn discoverable than your own portfolio in a google search without the cost (Kohler, Carson, 2022).

 

While LinkedIn allows google searches to look you up, job street is equally important to have. It is one of the most widely used platform to find jobs easily in Malaysia. Hence that is where I am currently based it is always wise to take all the opportunities you can grasp to find your dream job. Job street also uses similar algorithm as LinkedIn. Furthermore, it is also one of the Asia’s largest talent databases. It gives your hirer insights and uses ai technology to help match result to your searches. (Jobstreet, 2022)

 

In conclusion, having an online presence will help you successfully connect your employers and you. It is a safe and authentic place to find employers and create awareness about your services. Having an online presence increases your chances of finding your dream job and our generation has made this easier with the help of job-hunting platforms.
